This week saw us all celebrating May Day on the 1st. Traditionally this heralded the start of spring and new life where Morris Dancers joined villagers in dancing around a maypole. There are not many villages carrying on this tradition in the U.K but residents discussed the history of this festival and did some artwork around the topic.
Tuesday was our weekly ‘taste it Tuesday’ this week we sampled delights from Canada such as Poutine (fries, cheese curds and gravy), maple syrup, butter tarts. Canada was the focus of our Quiz of the World. We all enjoyed scrabble, bingo and the weekly game of bingo.
Two residents celebrated their birthdays. We all serenaded them with a rendition of Happy Birthday.
The weather was kind and several days were spent enjoying the garden in the spring sunshine.
