This week has seen the weather yet again being kind to us and everyone being able to enjoy activities in the garden. For those residents who enjoy a daily exercise the lovely days have been especially kind. There were Duck eggs spotted in a nest by the river and not far away a grass snake.
We are keeping a close eye on both. ( for photos check out the Galleries page and scroll down to activities gallery.)
We celebrated a residents birthday early in the week and then activities centred around the lead up to V.E. Day 75th Anniversary on Friday 8th – Bunting was fashioned and residents decorated this as they chose. On Thursday the conservatory and garden area were decorated in preparation for the big day.
Friday was a perfect day for the anniversary. During morning coffee in the garden some residents recalled their own memories of the day 75 years ago. Some were still at primary school whilst others were teenagers and remembered the joy of the day for everyone who was there. Others were young mothers whose husbands were still away. The two minutes silence was observed for those no longer with us.
Lunch was traditional fish and chips with staff joining the residents.
After lunch we were entertained in the garden.( adhering to social distancing !) with Mandy singing the wartime songs at one end of the garden and we all sang along and danced at the other.
This was followed by afternoon tea with plenty of homemade cakes.
A lovely day for us all.
