WEEK 12 BLOG
This week was a really busyone. The weather was kind and lots of activities were held outside. Taste it Tuesday had us sampling the delights of Jamaica. Jerk Chicken and rice followed by fried plantains. Some residents and staff sampled Ackee (salt fish). The catering team did us proud! The history and culture of Jamaica was discussed and events in their history beginning with the first Jamaicans, the Taino people. Residents discussed with staff the music of Jamaica and popular musicians such as Bob Marley. The belief of Rastafarians and the Jamaican flag and its meaning.
Film Afternoon was well received by those who prefer to stay indoors and residents chose two well known classics. North by North West and Bridge over the River Kwai.
Friday staff and residents baked cakes and raised funds for the Baking to beat Dementia campaign organised by the Alzheimers Society. We were entertained by Mandy in the garden (observing the social distancing guidelines, of course) Everyone had a lovely afternoon. We celebrated a member of staff birthday.
On Father’s Day and the longest day (21st June) we had a special tea in the garden with songs and dancing.
